I See the Love in You
I see it when you smile upon seeing a child.
I see it in your tears when a beloved pet has died.
I see it when you open the door for someone.
I see it when you give food to your neighbors.
I see it when you give cards that say nice things.
I see it when you give each other presents.
I see it when you do each other favors.
I see it in hugs and kisses and smiles and cheerful greetings.
I see it when you let someone get in line in front of you.
I see it when you give to charity.
I see it when you say nice things.
I see it in the way you give yourselves whole heartedly to romantic love, even though it can be heart-breaking.
I see it in the way that you never get tired of hearing love songs.
I see it in the bond that a child has with their parent – even after horrific abuse.
I see it in your joking and getting together for coffee and talking.
I see it in your accepting of gay marriage.
I see it in your pressure on advertisers to include people of all shapes, sizes and colors.
I see it in your re-cycling and concern for the planet.
I see it when you empathize with people halfway around the world and send them money and prayers.
I see it when a parent lovingly looks at their child.
I see it when a pet parent lovingly looks at their pet child.
I see it in the way that you got over the separation of the races and learned that love knows no color
I see it in the way that you got over the separation of the genders into two specific categories, as evidence suggests a broader spectrum.
I see it when you come to someone’s rescue with no thought for yourself.
I see it when you subject yourself to illness to take a friend some soup.
I see your love for God when you spend Sunday after Sunday sitting in a pew, when you could be anywhere you want.
I see it when you call each other ‘dear’ and ‘sweetheart’ and ‘love’.
I see it when you say Namaste’ to someone and recognize their divinity.
I see it when you grieve with a loved one’s passing.
I see it in your devotion to their memory.
I see it in a mother’s concern.
I see it in a father’s protection.
I see it in a child’s innocence.
I see it when people march arm in arm for a common aim.
I see it when people demand justice for the down-trodden.
I see it when people are horrified to learn that animals are being senselessly slaughtered by people with weapons who take pleasure in killing.
I see it in people who mourn the rapid extinction of plant and animal species.
I see it in people who volunteer and give their time at churches and charities.
I see it every day when I go about my business. I read about it in magazines and newspapers and in videos and on the internet. I experience it first-hand. I see it in public places and in my workplace. They sing songs about it. They write books about it. They film movies based on it.
All based on the love within a human.
I See the Love in You.
